Located in Williamsburg, Virginia, our mission is to empower individuals and families through the transformative practice of martial arts. OUR HISTORY
In 1979 Grandmaster Sang Mon BAE started his Bae’s Taekwondo Karate Academy in Newport News, Virginia. The vision was to create a place where families could come together for a sense of community while learning the highest quality instruction in martial arts and other related modalities. After a couple decades, the organization opened a branch in Williamsburg, Virginia. For several years, Grandmaster Bae and his head instructors grew the organization into the largest program of it’s kind in the historic triangle.
Under the leadership of Master Joseph B. Ash, the organization established Williamsburg as it’s forever home in 1997 and changed the name to BAEPLEX. With a foundation in the art of Taekwondo, our instructors offer a diverse variety of techniques and strategies from several martial arts. More importantly, each instructor brings their unique expertise and passion for ensuring every student receives the highest quality of training.
In 2015, Master Ash secured a six acre campus and began his vision of a family wellness campus with BAEPLEX as it’s core center. It is the organizational goal to collaborate with other like-minded organization to bring the concept of a family wellness campus into fruition, right here in Williamsburg, Virginia. As we celebrate over four decades of service, we still remain committed to our founding principles: Integrity, Respect, Perseverance and Service.

SPACIOUS TRAINING AREAS
Our facility includes expansive mat space that is Safe & Clean. The space is designed to accommodate classes of all sizes, ensuring ample room for interaction and learning.
FAMILY-FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT
We take great pride in creating a welcoming atmosphere for families. Our center includes comfortable waiting areas for parents to watch from outside the classroom or sit inside to get first-hand experience. Either way, we understand the importance of parental presence and make it easy for families to support one another in their martial arts journeys.
SAFETY AND CLEANLINESS
The Health and Safety of our students is the highest priority. We maintain a clean and safe environment, following best practices for hygiene and facility maintenance.
